No, we do not have textbooks, homework and do not grade a child.
Teachers are very observant about each child’s progress. Children keep notebooks for math, language, and art. At the end of each week, the teacher writes a report about what the children have learned this week. We have assessments with the parents twice a year.
Children may attend Joyous Montessori from birth through kindergarten. We have a number of children who spend part of their time at a more conventional school and then visit with us for part of the day, Those who graduate have been taught the basic math and language skills expected for a child entering kindergarten and they excel in the conventional school.
Our shelves are filled with different Montessori tools. Children choose which activity they wish to work with, and they can change their activity as frequently as they need to keep interest high. We also have in-house enrichment classes, which include Spanish, computers, and cooking. Specialists come in to teach music and physical education classes.
We accept children at the age of six weeks. Once they are six months old, they will start working with Montessori materials.

Montessori education is comparable in price to private daycares, but it offers a much more rigorous academic curriculum and much better preparation for the primary grades.
In the Montessori method, children learn by doing. Montessori materials make abstract mathematical concepts easier to understand by illustrating them with real-life materials. Children at this school also learn through special events, such as the history fair and science fair.
Younger children learn from the older child’s example. The older children can learn leadership skills as they embrace responsibility for their peers, and they gain confidence that will help them succeed in life.

You hold a spot by touring the school and learning about the different benefits it offers your child. Then you place a registration fee that holds your child’s spot.
We accept children as young as six weeks old.
