If you’re a parent, you know how fast the early years fly by. One minute your little one is learning to walk, and the next, you’re thinking about preschool and kindergarten. And if you’re already wondering whether it’s too early to start looking into the 2025–26 school year, let us assure you, now is actually the perfect time.

At Joyous Montessori, we believe that getting a head start in your child’s educational journey makes all the difference—not just in academics but in building confidence, independence, and a lifelong love for learning.

Why “Starting Early” Isn’t Just About the Calendar

Why “Starting Early” isn’t Just About the Calendar

There’s something powerful about beginning when the foundation is still being formed. Research tells us that a child’s brain grows more in the first five years than at any other time in life. That’s when curiosity, imagination, and personality are blooming—and it’s the ideal time to nurture them in a purposeful way.

Early enrollment gives your child more than just a seat in the classroom. It offers time—time to adjust, to connect with teachers, to explore their interests, and to grow in ways that can’t be rushed.

What Early Enrollment Looks Like at Joyous Montessori

Each child who walks through our doors brings something special. And we want to honor that by giving them the time and space to settle in, discover their rhythm, and feel completely at home in our environment.

Here’s why enrolling early matters:

Your Child Gets Time to Adjust Naturally

1. Your Child Gets Time to Adjust, Naturally

Transitions can be tricky, especially for little ones. Starting early gives your child the gift of a slower, gentler introduction to school life. They learn the routine, meet friends, and build trust in their teachers—all without the pressure of catching up.

Teachers Build Deeper Connections

2. Teachers Build Deeper Connections

Our Montessori-trained educators are observers first. When your child begins early, our team has more time to truly understand what makes them tick—what they love, where they struggle, and how they learn best. That personalized attention shapes everything they experience here.

More Time for Life Skills to Take Root

3. More Time for Life Skills to Take Root

Things like waiting your turn, solving problems peacefully, managing emotions—these aren’t taught in one day. They’re learned over time through daily interactions. An early start gives kids more chances to practice and grow these essential life skills.

A Solid Academic Foundation Built with Joy

4. A Solid Academic Foundation, Built with Joy

Montessori education doesn’t rush. It respects your child’s pace and interests. Early enrollment gives children the opportunity to explore foundational subjects like math, language, and science through hands-on, meaningful experiences—without pressure, just joy.

Through a Child’s Eyes: What Summer Camp Looks Like to a 5-Year-Old

Hi! My name is Mia, and I’m five years old. Want to know a secret?

Summer camp is my most favorite thing ever. I get to go to Joyous Montessori every day, and it’s not like regular school — it’s way more fun. I get to learn, play, and laugh with my friends and teachers all day long. Mommy says I’ve been sleeping better, making more friends, and even eating more vegetables (but I still like cookies best).

Let me tell you what summer camp really looks like… from my eyes!

Mornings Full of Sunshine and Hugs

When I walk into Joyous Montessori, I see lots of happy faces. Miss Anna always greets me with a big smile and a hug if I want one. The classroom smells like crayons and pancakes (sometimes it’s just my imagination, but still). I hang my little backpack and run to the morning rug.

We start with a song and everyone gets to say how they’re feeling. I said “sparkly” yesterday. My friend Liam said “wiggly.” It’s okay to feel anything here — that’s what I love.

STEM Activities Are Just Cool Magic Tricks

After morning songs, we do something called STEM, which Mommy says stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. But to me? It means building towers with blocks and making volcanoes that actually explode. Once, we even made slime and watched it ooze like gooey jelly.

I got to wear goggles like a real scientist and mix colored water to make rainbows. It felt like a magic show I was doing all by myself!

Arts & Crafts: The Place Where Unicorns Are Born

My favorite thing? Craft time. I can draw, paint, glue, and sparkle-fy everything. One time, I made a rocket ship with stickers and glitter. Another day, we painted outside under the trees — even the wind helped us by blowing our paintings dry.

The teachers don’t say “color inside the lines” — they say “make your own world!” So I did. I made a flying unicorn with three eyes. Everyone loved it.

Outdoor Play Means Running Wild and Free

After snacks, we go outside.

Outside time at Joyous Montessori is awesome. There’s a huge play area where we can run, climb, dig in the sandbox, and race our friends. The teachers even joined us for a freeze tag! Once, we went on a “bug safari” and found a caterpillar. I named her Wiggly Wanda.

Being outside makes me feel like an explorer. I even learned that trees “breathe,” just like we do. Isn’t that cool?

Games That Make My Brain Do Happy Cartwheels

Sometimes, we sit in groups and solve puzzles, play matching games, or build stuff together. These aren’t boring games — they’re fun, and they make me think! If I get stuck, a friend helps. If they get stuck, I help.

We also do yoga and breathing games when we need a break. It helps my body calm down when I get too giggly or excited.

Feeling Safe, Loved & Super Brave

The teachers here are like superheroes. They always listen when I have big feelings and help me understand them. One time I missed Mommy a lot, and Miss Sarah sat with me and told me a story about a little star who missed her sky. I felt better after that.

Joyous Montessori makes me feel safe. Like, I can try new things without being scared. I even talked in front of the whole class last week. I was nervous but everyone clapped!

Why I Think All Kids Should Try Summer Camp

I told Mommy that I want summer camp forever. She laughed, but I meant it. I’ve made new friends, learned to build stuff, painted a rainbow elephant, and even planted a flower (we named her Rosie and she’s still growing!).

I think all kids should try summer camp. It’s not just about learning — it’s about feeling happy while learning. You get to be you, make mistakes, try again, and dance whenever the music comes on.

A Message for All the Grown-Ups Out There (from Mia’s Mom)

Hi, I’m Mia’s mom. Since she started summer camp at Joyous Montessori, I’ve seen amazing changes in her. She’s more confident, curious, and kind. The program blends Montessori values with creativity, structure, and warmth — exactly what kids need during their formative years.

If you’re a parent wondering whether summer camp is the right move, I encourage you to visit Joyous Montessori and see it in action. You won’t be disappointed — and your child will thank you with bright eyes and endless stories, just like Mia.
